Things To Do In Berlin ♥

I have  just returned from a 4 day city break to Berlin. The city was wonderful and was better than I imagined it to be. I feel Berlin has the potential to suit everyone because it has an element of art, nature, history, culture, and nightlife. Okay...well maybe not everyone because i'm guessing that beach enthusiasts would not be too pleased. This post is sort of like a photo diary/guide on what you could do if you ever decide to visit Berlin.... Enjoy x
I would definitely recommend Sachsenhausen concentration camp. I did a tour there which lasted 6 hours and only costed £10. The guide took us there and gave us a full on tour of the whole camp. It's very interesting if you are interested in history and the holocaust. The picture on the left shows some of the conditions that the prisoners lived in. 500 men had to share 8 toilets, and they were only given half an hour to get ready in the morning.

I also did a tour in Kreuzberg neighbourhood which is on the west side of Berlin. From what I saw it is literally the art and culture district. This is where a lot of Turkish and African people live, so it is bursting with foreign restaurants. I must warn that it is not a safe neighbourhood, a lot of drug dealing and pick pocketing occurs here. The picture on the left shows "Wostok" which is only available in Kreuzberg. Wostok is sort of like a herbal flavoured lemonade made from natural ingredients. A tour guide recommended it, and it was delicious. The picture on the right shows some of the graffiti street art which can be seen all over buildings in Kreuzberg. This one was supposedly drawn by an Italian artist named "Blu".

Well I'm sure you would not want to leave without trying currywurst. It is basically sausage mixed in a sauce of tomato ketchup and curry powder. I underestimated it before trying some at "curry 36" in Kreuzberg (which is a place I recommend to try your first currywurst). There are different variations of seasoning that could be added if you don't like curry flavour. The one in the picture above contained a thai sweet chilli flavoured seasoning. I tried this at the currywurst museum which is another place you could visit. This sample came free with my ticket which was good. The currywurst museum is within walking distance of other attractions such as "checkpoint charlie" and "topography of terror".

How could I forget the infamous Berlin Wall? This is the first thing people think about when they hear the name Berlin. It's interesting if you feel like going for a walk, as it is about a mile long. The wall is covered in many different artistic paintings, and is quite interesting to watch (minus the crowds of eager tourists pushing for photos). As you can see above I have chosen to show you the section with the famous photo of 2 politicians kissing.
